Validation and verification aren't the same thing
Validation happens before a project or activity begins, confirming that its design, boundary, baseline, and methodology are appropriate and correctly applied.
Verification happens after implementation, confirming that reported emissions, reductions, or removals are accurate, complete, and consistent with the applicable criteria.

We gather the information needed to understand the client's claim, confirm the applicable program, and assess whether EDAT can take on the engagement without any threat to impartiality.
Engagement
We formalize the engagement, confirming with the client the specific requirements for the validation/verification activity and reach agreement on the terms under which the work will proceed.
Planning
We agree on the objectives, scope, criteria, materiality, and level of assurance with the client, and build a risk-based plan for the evidence-gathering activities ahead.
Execution
Our team gathers and evaluates evidence, reviewing data, documentation, and systems, using sampling, interviews, and site visits where appropriate to test the claim against the applicable criteria.
Review
A qualified reviewer, independent of the engagement team, reviews the work performed and the draft conclusion before anything is issued.
Decision & Issuance of Opinion
A decision is made based on the evidence gathered, and EDAT issues a validation or verification opinion that is evidence-based, clearly written, and traceable back to the work performed.
